Vote NO on Linda McMahon for the Department of Education

To: Sen. Lee, Sen. Curtis, Rep. Kennedy

From: A constituent in Sandy, UT

February 7

I urge you to reject the nomination of Linda McMahon as Secretary of Education. While we all want an education system that promotes excellence, accountability, and opportunity for all students, McMahon’s background and policy agenda pose a serious risk to our nation’s schools, communities, and economy. Public education is a pillar of American strength, serving 90% of students and ensuring that every child—regardless of zip code—has access to a quality education. Strong public schools are essential to preparing the next generation for the workforce, growing our economy, and keeping America competitive. But McMahon’s policies threaten to dismantle this system by pushing federal overreach and unproven privatization schemes that lack transparency and accountability to taxpayers. Rather than supporting responsible reforms that empower parents and improve public schools, McMahon is aligned with Donald Trump’s Project 2025, which would expand government-backed voucher programs that funnel taxpayer dollars to unregulated private institutions with no obligation to serve all students, including those with disabilities. This approach would increase class sizes, cut vital programs like vocational training, weaken special education services, and drive up costs for families seeking higher education. We believe in fiscal responsibility and strong oversight. Handing over billions in taxpayer dollars to unaccountable private schools that can reject students based on religion, disability, or family background is not a conservative value—it’s bad governance. The public deserves transparency and a Secretary of Education who prioritizes improving our public schools rather than defunding them. Linda McMahon is a billionaire with no experience in education policy, public school leadership, or classroom teaching. Her nomination is not about empowering families—it’s about political cronyism and an agenda that will leave millions of students behind while putting the financial burden on states and local communities. For the sake of America’s children, working families, and future economic strength, I urge you to reject Linda McMahon’s nomination and support a Secretary of Education who will strengthen, not weaken, our schools.
