Vote NO and Reject the Coordinated Attack on Judicial Independence!
To: Sen. Cortez Masto, Rep. Amodei, Sen. Rosen

April 6
I’m writing to express my deep opposition to a dangerous wave of legislation aimed at dismantling the independence of our federal courts and placing executive officials above the law. These bills are not isolated—they represent a coordinated attack on the judiciary, and they must be rejected at every level. I’m asking that you vote NO (or publicly oppose, in the Senate) the following bills: 1. The Judicial Understaffing Delays Getting Emergencies Solved (JUDGES) Act (H.R. 1702) This bill would grant Donald Trump the authority to appoint 22 new lifetime district court judges—stacking the federal courts with loyalists who will rubber-stamp his agenda and protect him from legal consequences. This is blatant court-packing under the guise of judicial efficiency. 2. The Promptly Ending Political Prosecutions and Executive Retaliation (PEPPER) Act (H.R. 1789) This bill would dramatically expand executive power, allowing current and former executive officials to transfer prosecutions against them to federal court—and then require judges to dismiss almost all charges. This is a frontal assault on the idea that no one is above the law. 3. The No Rogue Rulings (NORRA) Act (H.R. 1526) This legislation would prevent judges from granting relief beyond the parties in a case, gutting the courts’ ability to block unconstitutional executive actions. If a harmful policy affects millions, why should relief only apply to one or two plaintiffs? This is about limiting judicial remedies, not justice. 4. The Nationwide Injunction Abuse Prevention Act This bill would ban nationwide injunctions by district court judges, removing one of the most powerful tools available to courts when the government oversteps its bounds. If this had been law in the past, policies like the Muslim Ban or child separation could have continued unchecked while slow individual lawsuits crawled through the system. Each of these bills is part of a broader campaign to weaken judicial power, expand executive authority, and insulate one man—Donald Trump—from accountability. These bills do not protect liberty or improve efficiency—they undermine the separation of powers, threaten constitutional rights, and endanger democracy itself. I know some of these bills are currently in the House, but I urge you—whether in the House or the Senate—to use your platform to oppose them loudly and clearly. If any of these bills advance, you must vote NO and make clear to your constituents where you stand. Please protect the independence of the judiciary. Stand up for democracy. Defend the Constitution.
