I support Representative Massie’s Americans Insist on Political Agent Clarity (AIPAC) Act, which closes loopholes in the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) that allow certain organizations to avoid registering as foreign agents while lobbying on behalf of foreign interests. The bill: —Clarifies that U.S.-based organizations can qualify as foreign principals under FARA when their lobbying primarily advances a foreign nation’s interests; —Establishes objective standards for identifying foreign political alignment; —Allows American citizens to request DOJ investigations into potential FARA violations. Americans deserve transparency when lobbying groups are advancing foreign government interests in Congress.
