I'm writing to urge you to support the REPAIR Act, H.R. 1566. This bill would help to reverse the trend of automakers locking key software data needed to repair and maintain vehicles behind proprietary interfaces, preventing independent shops and vehicle owners from working on the cars. This locked down approach threatens the survival of independent shops, the budgets of everyday Americans, and the environment by encouraging that vehicles be replaced more often. Please, support this legislation to ensure that everyone has access to the data and tools needed to repair their vehicle.
