No modern-day DHS concentration camps

To: Sen. Murray, Sen. Cantwell, Rep. Larsen

From: A constituent in Clinton, WA

March 20

I am writing to demand that you oppose any proposed expansion of Department of Homeland Security detention facilities (concentration camps) within our community and across the nation. We cannot stand by while further inhumane conditions are created for those in detention. The reality is that these facilities, already holding over 70,000 people annually, are routinely described as dangerous and profoundly dehumanizing. Expanding these “mega-warehouses” will only exacerbate the problem, leading to an increase in individuals held under appalling conditions. Our community values its immigrant residents – they are vital contributors to our local economy and social fabric. We will not tolerate the construction of an institution that treats human beings with such disregard. I expect you to utilize your office and your power as my elected representative to firmly reject any attempts to establish new detention facilities in our area, and to actively work against the broader expansion of Trump’s mass detention and deportation agenda. Thank you,
