Join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact to Elect POTUS Democratically

To: Gov. Hobbs, Rep. Pingerelli, Sen. Carroll, Rep. Livingston

From: A verified voter in Phoenix, AZ

April 16

The current way we elect the president is broken. Someone can get more votes nationwide and still not become president. As of today, 18 states have signed the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact to assign their presidential electors to the winner of the popular vote. The compact takes effect when states representing a majority of electoral votes – 270 of 538 – pass the legislation and thus would determine the winner of the presidential contest. With the latest signatory, Virginia, the compact now has 222 electors. Please support legislation in our state to guarantee the Presidency to the candidate getting the most votes throughout the entire US. The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact would do this. Let’s elect the President as democratically as we elect school board members, mayors, and senators.
