Release ethics report on Gaetz before confirming Attorney General

To: Rep. McGarvey, Sen. Paul, Sen. McConnell

From: A constituent in Louisville, KY

November 18

The Senate should have access to the unreleased ethics report on Matt Gaetz to fully vet his qualifications as the President's nominee for Attorney General. The report details allegations of sexual misconduct and illegal drug use against Gaetz while he was a congressman. As the nation's top law enforcement officer, the Attorney General must be held to the highest ethical standards. Responsible senators from both parties have called for transparency and for the report to be made available to the chamber during the confirmation process. Withholding this information would undermine public trust in the integrity of the Department of Justice. Releasing the report allows senators to thoroughly examine the credible claims against Gaetz and determine if he is fit to serve as Attorney General. Accountability and a commitment to the rule of law require that all relevant facts be considered before advancing this controversial nomination. Please push to have this report released before any confirmation can be considered.
