Reign in ICE

To: Sen. Curtis, Rep. Kennedy, Sen. Lee

From: A constituent in Springville, UT

January 17

"Love your neighbor and treat them with compassion and respect. A century of experience has taught me this with certainty: anger never persuades, hostility never heals, and contention never leads to lasting solutions." --Russell M. Nelson This is what President Russell M. Nelson wrote in his op-ed for Time magazine. How do you think that last sentence of his squares with what is happening in Minnesota and across the country where ICE is terrorizing people? Christ taught us to love our neighbor. Who is our neighbor? Christ taught us that, too: everyone. Even our enemies. Even people who have broken the law. We must treat everyone with compassion and dignity. ICE is flagrantly opposing that idea. As your constituent, I plead with you to do everything within your power to reign in ICE. No person, regardless of citizenship, immigration status, or race, should be treated the way ICE insists on inflicting. This is not about party lines. This is about Christianity. This is about human decency. This is about doing what is right. I'm depending on you to choose the higher way.
