We are in the beginning of an authoritarian takeover, orchestrated by Donald Trump, his cabinet, and his cronies. This government shutdown, his continued disregard for our Constitution, destruction of the White House, his illegal activities, disregard for checks and balances, ignoring the courts, blatant lying, rambling speeches, previously inciting an insurrection, sexual assault, wasting taxpayer money, the red flags are whizzing by at this point. If you expect to have a position to be elected into, you need to be standing up now. This egomaniac needs to be stopped before it is too late. Our democracy is crumbling. People are losing their rights, their healthcare, their benefits. The immense turnout for protests against all these horrible actions should be a wake up call. This is not about Republicans or Democrats. This is about keeping the United States of America a democratic republic and not allowing authoritarianism to take root here. American soldiers have fought and died against authoritarians and fascists. Don't let our country become everything we stand against.
