Reject Paxton's voter suppression tactics in Texas elections

To: Sen. Schwertner, Rep. Harris Davila, Gov. Abbott, Lt. Gov. Patrick

From: A constituent in Leander, TX

May 18

Ken Paxton, the Texas Attorney General who has been repeatedly sued for unethical conduct, is facing two new lawsuits challenging his attempt to prosecute crimes related to mail-in ballot applications in the upcoming elections. Through his new rule that would criminalize efforts by local officials to proactively send out mail-in ballot applications to voters, Paxton is actively trying to harm Texans' fundamental right to vote and access mail-in voting options during the pandemic. These lawsuits underscore Paxton's overreach in undermining the integrity of the electoral process and suppressing voters in Texas. It is unacceptable for leaders to erect unnecessary barriers to voting and intimidate citizens from exercising their constitutional rights. Texans deserve public servants who safeguard democracy, not sabotage it through unethical gambits.
