Urgent Support for the Protect America’s Workforce Act & Section 1110

To: Sen. Hawley, Sen. Schmitt

From: A verified voter in Kansas City, MO

December 6

I am writing to urge you to publicly support and vote YES on the Protect America’s Workforce Act and to support Section 1110 of the National Defense Authorization Act. On November 24, 2025, a historic bipartisan coalition of 218 members of the U.S. House successfully completed a discharge petition to force a vote on this legislation. This rare action reflects the seriousness of the threat to federal workers’ collective bargaining rights and the broad, bipartisan recognition that these rights must be restored and protected. An independent, professional, and apolitical civil service is a cornerstone of American democracy. Federal employees protect our borders, care for veterans, process Social Security benefits, respond to disasters, defend our nation, and keep essential government services running every day for the American people. Stripping collective bargaining rights weakens accountability, lowers morale, worsens staffing crises, and ultimately harms the public we serve. At a time when agencies are already struggling with severe staffing shortages, rising workloads, and service backlogs, undermining worker protections only makes government less efficient and less responsive to constituents. I also urge your support for Section 1110 of the National Defense Authorization Act, which restores bargaining rights for hundreds of thousands of Department of Defense civilian employees. These workers are critical to national security and deserve the same fundamental workplace protections as other federal employees. This issue is not partisan. It is about fairness, stability, accountability, and the long-term integrity of our civil service system. I respectfully ask that you stand with the bipartisan majority in Congress and with the federal workers who serve this nation every day. Constituents are watching this vote closely, and your position on this issue will matter deeply to federal employees and the communities that depend on our work. Thank you for your time and for your service. I look forward to your response and to seeing your public support for these critical protections.
