IMPEACH Donald Trump’s Federal Communications Commission chair, Brendan Carr. He has issued a public threat to news broadcasters: Report the Iran war the way the administration wants, or lose your license to operate. That’s right: The U.S. government has threatened to silence news organizations for covering a war in ways that the president doesn’t like. This is a direct attack on freedom of the press and freedom of speech. This is exactly how an authoritarian government acts. By censoring what people know about war, it controls the narrative and the war itself. Since the beginning of Trump’s second term, we’ve watched as corporate news outlets fold under pressure.
