An Open Letter

To: Gov. Newsom

From: A constituent in San Diego, CA

August 31

Governor Newsom, I urge you to sign AB 2760 into law with urgency. Electroshock gloves have no place in the state of California; they are a form of torture, which has no place in ensuring public safety. They have been found to be unsafe, resulting in bodily injury and even death. AB 2760 would would, until January 1, 2030, prohibit a law enforcement agency, including a federal law enforcement agency, from using a wearable electroshock device within the State of California. The bill would also prohibit a state or local law enforcement agency from using state funds to purchase a wearable electroshock device. The bill would require a state or local law enforcement agency to update their use of force policies to prohibit the use of a wearable electroshock device. I fully support this, and expect you to as well. Thank you.
