I’m deeply alarmed by the rise of masked, unidentifiable law enforcement officers, often working with ICE and DHS, operating in our communities. These tactics are terrifying and authoritarian. People are being disappeared, students are being targeted, and immigrants are being intimidated and detained without due process. Governor Newsom has the power to respond, and I’m urging him to: 1 Publicly support legislation like California’s No Secret Police Act that bans masked and unidentifiable law enforcement. 2 Issue an executive order requiring all law enforcement in our state to display visible ID and refuse cooperation with secretive ICE raids. 3 Speak out publicly to condemn these politically motivated tactics and stand with the immigrant and international communities under threat. This is about protecting civil liberties and stopping authoritarian overreach in our own state. I hope the Governor will act quickly and decisively.
