Rein in DOGE's unlawful overreach, reassert congressional authority

The recent actions by Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) are highly concerning and appear to violate numerous federal laws. Georgetown Law professor David Super has outlined many instances of blatant lawbreaking, such as the improper use of administrative leave to sideline civil servants, unconstitutionally denying Congress's power of the purse, and attempting to disband agencies like USAID in defiance of their authorizing statutes. Musk himself lacks proper authority and conflicts clearance for his self-appointed role. Allowing this flagrant disregard for the rule of law to continue unchecked sets a dangerous precedent that undermines our democratic institutions and system of checks and balances. I expect our Democractically elected Senators to hold their GOP colleagues accountable and to more publicly stand up against this blatant administrative coup. Steps must be taken to rein in DOGE's unlawful overreach and reassert Congress's constitutional prerogatives before further damage is done.
