Thank you for holding the line on requiring healthcare support for Americans who cannot afford rising Affordable Care Act insurance premiums without continuing assistance. Governance in a democratic republic has always required compromise between competing interests. Budgets negotiated by representatives who reflect the interests of their constituents are necessary to the healthy functioning of our nation; priorities cannot be dictated by one person or party alone. The Administration’s threats to undermine good governance and moves to do exactly that reveal an infidelity to oaths taken to protect the Constitution, public interest, and national security above petty grievances. Caving in without good faith negotiations and agreements will not save us.
