I am your constituent and I want you to know long term care costs run about $130,000 per year. Almost no one can afford that. Medicaid can cover it but it recoups the costs from your estate after death. So not really insurance - more like a loan.
Universal healthcare offered by our peer industrialized nations, Germany, France, Japan, the Netherlands, Canada, and so many other countries, covers long term care. Not like here where you are either rich or bankrupt. What we have here is cruelty on a massive scale.
We deserve better than this. We all deserve to be able go to the doctor, we all deserve to be able to get the care we need, especially when we can’t care for ourselves any more. And we deserve to have that care without going broke or forcing our family and friends to go broke.
Universal healthcare like, H.R. 3069, the Medicare for All (of us) act does just that. It is a public insurance trust paying private providers. Here is a link to the text, https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/3069/text, and I want you to read section 204 on long term care. Then I want you to get this to a vote and enact it. I will be watching.
