Vote No on Trump's $1.5 Trillion Defense Budget Request

April 12

Vote no on President Trump's $1.5 trillion defense spending request for fiscal year 2027. This represents a 40% increase from current funding levels and comes during the fifth week of a war with Iran that Trump escalated with threats of civilizational destruction. We should not be handing more money to the Pentagon to fund this reckless conflict. The proposal includes $1.1 trillion in base Defense Department funding plus $350 billion through budget reconciliation for munitions and defense industrial base expansion. Meanwhile, nondefense spending gets cut by 10%, or $73 billion. This budget prioritizes weapons over the needs of Americans at home. Trump threatened Iran with total annihilation on social media, a statement that international law experts say describes war crimes under Article 8 of the Rome Statute. His own Vice President failed to negotiate peace in Islamabad last Saturday. Now he wants Congress to write a blank check for more military spending while cutting domestic programs. This is exactly backwards. Reject this budget and demand diplomatic solutions instead of endless war funding.
