So now the FBI has been ordered on the bandwagon to question Democrats who had the nerve to speak the truth that our military is compelled under the oath they take to our Constitution to disobey illegal orders. Since when is free speech, not to mention the actual truth, a legitimate cause for investigation by the FBI? Oh, right. ‘Truth,’ ‘legitimate’, and ‘free speech’ are no longer words of value in the Trump administration. And Trump has the power of revenge at his fingertips, and no shame in using it. And Pete Hegseth is happy to vent his insecurity on America’s proven warriors, not just the ones dressing sloppy and growing beards. And are fat. [Maybe Trump should get rid of Hegseth and replace him with Mark Kelly. Pete Hegseth is very much not one of the best people.] But back to the topic at hand. Trump is currently bombing boats near Venezuela without congressional approval or a LEGAL basis. The video in question came amid increased strikes on boats allegedly connected to drug smugglers from Venezuela. But who really knows? Congress did not authorize the strikes and members of both parties have raised alarms about military action without congressional approval. But regardless of your role, or lack of, why the hysterical reaction from the folks who keep telling us nothing illegal is going on? Do you know for certain that nothing illegal is going on? Would you be happy being called in front of the FBI to be questioned about what you know? Or more likely, don’t know? Does anyone in Congress trust the Trump administration to do the right, and legal, thing? In the meantime, the degradation of every agency being commanded to behave in ways contrary to their oaths is not something that will be easily remedied, even when the national nightmare that is the Trump administration is in history’s dustbin. He is destroying the agencies that we are supposed to trust to keep us safe, and do the right thing for the country. And that will be his true and lasting legacy.
