Address wrongful termination of federal employees
To: Rep. Cammack, Sen. Moody, Sen. Scott
From: A verified voter in Earleton, FL
February 17
I am writing as a concerned constituent regarding the recent mass terminations of federal employees across multiple agencies. These dismissals, which disproportionately affected probationary employees, raise serious legal and ethical concerns regarding compliance with federal workforce protections. The manner in which these terminations were executed suggests potential violations of several federal laws and regulations, chiefly including: Breach of Merit System Principles (5 U.S.C. § 2301) – These terminations may have been made based on non-merit factors, contradicting the principle that federal employment should be based on ability rather than political or arbitrary considerations. Consequences of firings from just one service agency, the National Park Service, include threatened preservation and access to our country’s amazing NPS sites, less visits and compromised safety for the millions of visitors and students that utilize them, as well as tremendous impacts to the local economies these sites contribute towards. These short-sighted mass terminations have not only harmed public servants but also threaten the effectiveness of our crucial federal agencies. If experienced and dedicated employees are removed without cause, the ability of these agencies to serve the American people will be severely compromised. I urge your office to take immediate action by: 1. Demanding a congressional investigation into whether these terminations violated federal laws and workforce protections. 2. Requesting documentation from agencies to verify whether lawful procedures were followed. 3. Ensuring oversight to prevent politically motivated removals of career federal employees by unelected “officials” and stop unconstitutional executive overreach. 4. Strengthening protections for probationary federal employees to prevent future misuse of mass terminations. As your constituent, I am deeply concerned about these dismissals and their implications for our government’s integrity. I respectfully and ardently request that you take a stand against these potential violations and advocate for transparency, fairness, and adherence to the rule of law in federal employment practices. Please reply to let me know what actions your office intends to take on this issue. I appreciate your time and attention to this matter.
