Texas Republican party is practicing their voter suppression tactics already. Normally each county decides whether there are county-wide election polling places or whether voters had to vote at their specific polling site. The Dallas County GOP wanted the specific site voting ( both parties have to agree on the county-wide system), which created confusion among Dem voters, after years of county-wide voting, now having to find where their precinct is, and then get there. Also, the GOP Sec. of State had not updated the changed Dem precincts after the redistricting demanded by Trump. A Dallas county judge extended the voting hours for Dem voters to allow them to find and get to their precinct. (Dallas is Jasmine Crockett’s home base.) Ken Paxton (the GOP state AG and also a candidate for the GOP senate nomination) asked the TX Supreme Court to reverse the 2 hour extension, which was granted. This in effect disenfranchises a large number of Dem voters, hurting Crockett more than her opponents. It had no effect on GOP voters. Why did he do that? Probably just because he could mess with Dem votes, but probably also because he considers her to be a stronger candidate in the Nov. election . Talarico has a slight lead over Crockett, with a large number of votes in Dallas not counting. Cornyn and Paxton are going to a runoff in May as neither had a majority. Talarico has a slight majority lead over Crockett. More voter suppression sure to come!
