I am writing as a concerned citizen to urge you to take immediate action to de-escalate and end the current war with Iran.
Over the past week, the conflict has rapidly intensified following U.S. and Israeli strikes inside Iran and subsequent retaliation across the region. Civilian casualties are rising, thousands of lives have already been lost, and the violence risks expanding into a broader regional war with devastating humanitarian and geopolitical consequences. (Le Monde.fr)
Congress has a constitutional responsibility to provide oversight in matters of war and to ensure that military force is used only when absolutely necessary and with clear authorization. Many Americans are deeply concerned about the lack of a defined strategy, the risk to U.S. service members, and the possibility of a prolonged and destabilizing conflict in the Middle East. (The Guardian)
I urge you to:
• Support legislation that requires congressional authorization for continued military action.
• Push for an immediate ceasefire and diplomatic negotiations involving international partners.
• Prioritize humanitarian protections and aid for civilians affected by the conflict.
• Work toward a long-term diplomatic solution that reduces the risk of further war.
The United States should lead through diplomacy, restraint, and international cooperation. Escalating military action risks worsening instability, endangering American lives, and undermining global security.
Please stand for accountability, peace, and constitutional oversight by working to halt further escalation and pursue a diplomatic resolution.
Thank you for your time and your service.
