I am writing to call out Senator Shelley Moore Capito, Senator Jim Justice, and Representative Riley Moore for repeatedly claiming credit for American Rescue Plan funding that they opposed. Senator Capito voted against the American Rescue Plan. Senator Justice opposed the legislation as Governor before taking office in the Senate. Representative Moore also opposed this funding. Despite that, all three continue to appear at events and announcements, including a recent example in Fairmont, taking credit for projects funded by a bill they tried to block. That is dishonest. You do not get to vote no on relief for West Virginians and then take credit for the results. These funds reached our communities despite your opposition, not because of it. I expect honesty and accountability from my elected officials. Stop misleading the public about your role in delivering this funding. If you can't be honest- enjoy your final lap. The voters will not forget and we will follow the money.
