Reject House Bill 722, protect reproductive rights
To: Rep. Dean
From: A constituent in Lansdale, PA
February 1
This legislation, House Bill 722, seeks to implement equal protection for the "right to life" of all "born and preborn human persons" under the 14th Amendment. However, this is a severe overreach that would effectively ban abortion nationwide and strip reproductive rights from millions of Americans. Such an extreme measure fails to account for the complex realities surrounding pregnancy, including cases of rape, incest, severe fetal abnormalities, or threats to the life of the pregnant person. It imposes an absolutist view on a highly personal issue. I urge you to reject this unconstitutional attempt to deprive people of their fundamental freedoms and bodily autonomy. Protecting access to safe reproductive healthcare, including abortion services, is vital for public health and human rights. Instead of this draconian bill, I implore you to safeguard the established precedent of Roe v. Wade and oppose any efforts to undermine a person's right to make private medical decisions about their own pregnancy.
