An Open Letter

To: Sen. Lee, Sen. Curtis, Rep. Kennedy

From: A constituent in Holladay, UT

February 6

ICE detention facilities must be open for inspections, and there must be full transparency with Congress about crowding levels, how detainees are being treated, how sanitation is being handled, and whether the nutritional needs of the detainees being adequately met. There are no cameras, they are not allowing inspections, and the reports that are coming out about conditions show a true humanitarian crisis developing. Conditions in these centers sound no better than those of the concentration camps in Nazi Europe, and if you don't inspect it or require accountability, you are no better than the Nazis. You become what you allow, and make no mistake, you as congresspeople are allowing this to happen. No one else has the power to intervene, and I call on you to take up the mantle of authority and ensure these detention centers are following humane practices and treating the detainees with all the dignity and rights humans on US soil are guaranteed under the US constitution.
