As a constituent of your state, I am writing to urge you to publicly and unequivocally condemn President Donald Trump’s recent threats against members of Congress and to support all appropriate actions to hold him accountable. On November 20, 2025, President Trump used his social media platform, Truth Social, to call for the execution of six sitting Democratic members of Congress. To my knowledge, no president has ever made statements of this nature. This represents an unprecedented and extremely dangerous escalation in his rhetoric toward political opponents. Because the President’s post expressly calls for violence and was clearly intended to do so, it is not protected under the First Amendment. His statements appear to violate several federal statutes, including 18 U.S.C. § 115 (Threats Against Federal Officials), 18 U.S.C. § 875 (Interstate Threats), and 18 U.S.C. § 879 (Threats Against Certain Officials). His words may also be interpreted by his most committed supporters as a call to action, potentially amounting to criminal solicitation under 18 U.S.C. § 373. We have reached a point where this behavior can no longer be dismissed as hyperbole or reframed as requiring additional context. The intent behind the President’s words—inciting or encouraging violence—was unmistakable. Therefore, I respectfully ask that you: 1.) Publicly condemn the President’s threats, 2.) Advocate for accountability measures, and 3.) Support impeachment proceedings should the House transmit articles to the Senate. Our constitutional system, and the safety of elected officials, depends on a clear and unequivocal response to this conduct. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter.
