Oppose The Driver License Criminal Offense Act This bill would enhance the penalties for driving without a valid driver license without any evidence of effectiveness. While I understand the intent is to deter repeat offenses, this legislation creates significant problems without demonstrating that harsher penalties will improve compliance or public safety. This enhancement will impose substantial costs on Tennessee taxpayers through increased incarceration expenses without the benefit of any fiscal analysis.
