LGBTQIA rights

To: Gov. Rhoden, Rep. Jensen, Rep. Massie, Sen. Voight

From: A constituent in Rapid City, SD

January 24

I’m writing you today to make South Dakota a more inclusive and positive environment for ALL . I’ve lived in South Dakota my whole life and I always wanted the state to feel welcoming to everyone but sadly if you’re a member of the LGBTQIA community you might be seen as more of a target. I’d like to make South Dakota a state where all can feel welcome three steps would be to pass anti discrimination laws, change the state law to allow same sex marriage and fly the pride flag (rainbow) at state owned buildings. As a life long South Dakotan I don’t think making a few updates to make those who are part of the LGBTQIA community feel welcome is that out of scope, do you know how many of my friends moved out of state due to feeling unsafe here ? Way too many and I think it’s time we become more welcoming to ALL!
