Speak up and take action to stop Trump’s illegal war now

To: Rep. Ciscomani, Sen. Kelly, Sen. Gallego

January 4

Trump’s war in Venezuela is illegal and dangerous. Attacking a sovereign nation we are not at war with, bombing its capital city, and abducting its President and First Lady, does not make America safer. Trump says American oil companies will spend millions and make a lot of money taking over Venezuela’s oil, the world’s largest reserves estimated at 17% of the total available globally while we will “run the country.” Let’s be clear, if we don’t stop this war now it will expand. Trump has already threatened Mexico and told Colombian President Gustavo Petro needs to “watch his ass.” I’m contacting you to demand Congress stop Trump’s illegal war. Please start by taking these four critical steps immediately: - Condemn the attacks - Demand the return of Venezuela's President and First Lady to their country - Block federal funds for military operations not directly dedicated to immediate withdrawal of forces - Outlaw American companies from assisting or profiting from Trump’s illegal war You may wish to look at existing legislation like the bipartisan No Unauthorized Force in Venezuela Act and recent War Power Resolutions for guidance and tactics, but do not wait to take action and force the Trump administration to reverse course immediately. I’m counting on you. Please let me know what you are doing and will do to stop Trump’s illegal war now.
