I am writing to ask—urgently—that you take immediate action to investigate and dismantle the so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) before more harm is done to Alaskans, to our military, and to the integrity of the United States government.
This department is a threat—not just to privacy, but to national security.
We now know DOGE operatives have been accessing sensitive systems across multiple federal agencies, demanding root-level access, bypassing safeguards, turning off monitoring tools, and deleting records. This is not “efficiency.” It’s what state-sponsored hackers do. There are reports of IP addresses from Russia attempting to log in using DOGE credentials. If you’re not asking who gave them access—or what was taken—you are complicit in this breach.
Worse, we’ve learned that data from the IRS, SSA, Customs and Immigration, and even state voting rolls have been consolidated into a master database. DOGE’s vague mission and total disregard for the Privacy Act are red flags for anyone concerned about authoritarian power, election interference, and exploitation of personal data.
Meanwhile, the Trump administration is actively trying to dismantle trusted programs like SmartPay—used across the federal government—and replace them with a Musk- and Trump-backed company, Ramp. The goal seems clear: consolidate power and make money while violating the basic principles of transparency, oversight, and public service.
This isn’t just unethical—it’s dangerous. If these reports are even half true, DOGE represents a direct threat to national security and a possible avenue for hostile actors, including Russia, to access and exploit American data.
To all of you: History is watching. You can stand by as unelected billionaires like Elon Musk gain access to government systems, or you can do your jobs. That means oversight. That means investigation. That means ensuring American data isn’t monetized, weaponized, or handed to foreign adversaries.
Please, do what’s right. Alaskans—across the political spectrum—are counting on you.
