FCC Chair Brendan Carr’s March 14 threat to revoke broadcaster licenses over Iran war reporting “hoaxes and distortions” warranting loss of licenses, is an abuse of power that chills free speech during wartime. [Washington Post, CNN, NYT]This echoes authoritarian tactics, not American values. Broadcasters serve the public interest by questioning government claims on strikes, casualties, and motives, not by parroting official lines. As a Texas constituent, I urge you to:
1. Demand a Senate/House hearing on FCC threats to press freedom.
2. Support legislation protecting broadcaster licenses from political retaliation.
3. Request declassification of Iran war targeting rules re: civilian sites.
The public deserves unfiltered facts on this war’s human cost, not controlled narratives.
