I'm writing to ask that you OPPOSE The Pet and Livestock Protection Act (H.R. 845), sponsored by Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO). If passed, it would: • Strip gray wolves of federal ESA protections across the Lower 48 • Eliminate federal oversight • Block court challenges • Open the door to unregulated hunting, trapping, and lethal control We have already seen what happens when wolves lose protections. In Wisconsin (February 2021), wolves were federally delisted, and 218 wolves were killed in just 72 hours, many during breeding season. That is exactly what happens when science-based protections are removed. Supporters claim this bill protects livestock, but nationwide delisting would be a drastic rollback of one of the strongest conservation laws in the world and could erase decades of recovery overnight. This bill goes TOO far and strips the public’s right to challenge unlawful agency actions is not optional. A core safeguard built into the ESA, APA, and NEPA. Jurisdiction-stripping provisions in this bill would silence the public and remove the courts’ ability to check abuse — a dangerous and anti-democratic precedent
