Vote No on Reconciliation Bill Funding War, ICE, and Voter Suppression

To: Sen. Alsobrooks, Rep. Elfreth, Sen. Van Hollen

From: A verified voter in Arnold, MD

April 4

Vote no on the proposed budget reconciliation bill that uses the filibuster-proof process to fund an illegal war with Iran, expanded ICE operations, and voter suppression measures. Americans are struggling with skyrocketing healthcare, food, and fuel prices and need relief, not more cruelty funded by gutting the safety net. Chairman Arrington and Senate Budget Chairman Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., have stressed the need to provide additional funding for defense and immigration enforcement through the filibuster-proof reconciliation process, which Republicans used last year to pass their "big, beautiful" tax and spending package. Now they want to cut 78 means-tested programs, including the earned income tax credit that helps low-income workers, to pay for military aggression and mass deportations. Families need relief from crushing costs, not another attack on programs that keep people fed and housed. Attaching voter ID requirements to reconciliation is a transparent attempt to disenfranchise millions of eligible voters who lack proof of citizenship documents. Using the budget process to restrict voting rights while funding human rights abuses at home and abroad is despicable. Reject this reconciliation package and focus on what actually helps your constituents survive.
