Rein in ICE murderers

To: Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Van Duyne, Sen. Cruz

From: A constituent in Dallas, TX

July 17

I am writing regarding the recent ICE shootings of non-criminal United States residents. Video of the two most recent shootings show the ICE “agents” were not in danger, and certainly not fearful of losing their lives. Their victims were shot in cold blood. Murdered. For no apparent reason. ICE in its current iteration does not make anyone safer. It brings death and suffering. It terrorizes communities. The facts many of its “agents” are anonymous, masked figures with no identification makes that worse. ICE, formed as an agency to protect our borders, has become a private paramilitary force accountable to no one. Its “agents” can murder innocent people and face no repercussions. That is wrong. That is un-American and a danger to our democracy. You, as a member of Congress, have the ability and the duty to rein in ICE and its needlessly-brutal actions. ICE in its current form must be disbanded and reformed as it was originally intended. Its agents must show their faces and identification cards and badges. They must be held accountable for any extra-judicial and illegal acts they commit. My wife and I urge you to demand ICE be reined in to its original role and be held accountable for all its actions.
