America is out of whack. And the president is publicly losing his S-H-I-T. And his filters. Has any president ever spent time at a campaign rally rhapsodizing over another man’s body with such enthusiasm and detail? Has any president ever verbally attacked female reporters in such a disrespectful and reprehensible fashion? “You don’t know what you’re talking about. You’re a dummy. You’re a low-IQ person, you’re a dummy, and you work for CNN.” Kaitlin Collins deserves hazardous duty pay. The Trump/Putin (one-sided) bromance intensifies. Trump’s special envoy to Russia praised Putin as a “humanitarian.” Even as the Russian military continues to bombard Ukrainian civilians. This week killing a baby in a stroller at a public park. All the while, Trump claims he had nothing to do with the Starlink/ Starshield betrayal in Ukraine. “I wasn’t involved.” When asked if Elon Musk ordered it, Trump responded: “I don’t know who did it, but I was not involved.” Republican members of Congress have vowed to hold whoever was responsible for the cuts accountable. Mr. Musk is not taking that threat calmly. Musk posted: “Live by the sword, die by the sword. Those who pick fights with me should understand that I will find out who is really pulling the strings and come for them, not just their puppets …” Just a threat against the Congress from a government contractor, whose present and future business success depends on the federal hand he’s vowing to bite off. 12M Americans have lost healthcare coverage under Trump. Premiums have risen sharply. And the worst of the GOP cuts from the One Big Beautiful Bill won’t happen until after the midterms. SNAP enrollment fell by more than 5M people. Nearly half no longer receiving benefits are children. Some states may have to withdraw from SNAP altogether. The US deficit has gone into orbit as a result of all the tax cuts. Never to be alleviated by cutting social benefits, no matter the claims made. Never-ending wars. Alienating allies. Aligning with adversaries. Disregard for the law. Disdain for the people he governs. Disrespect for our Democracy. Topped off with an accelerating mental spiral. Any increase in GOP concern we might be seeing at this late date will never turn the tide of what they’ve already allowed to happen on their watch. Too slow to react. Too late to the party.
