I am writing to demand that you publicly condemn and fight back against the Department of Justice's recent power grab threatening state and local election officials with federal pressure and intimidation.
This is dangerous and unconstitutional federal interference by the executive branch. The Constitution explicitly leaves election administration to the states, yet Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche’s DOJ is actively attempting to pressure local workers and bypass local control. The federal government is currently suing 30 states to force the handover of sensitive voter registration data into a centralized federal database—a massive violation of local sovereignty and voter privacy.
Worse, this entire effort is a manufactured stunt built on a lie. Every legitimate empirical study on this topic—including data from the conservative Heritage Foundation—has proven that noncitizen voting is virtually nonexistent. By spreading these baseless claims, the administration is willing to spin up partisan fear and waste taxpayer resources just to score political points.
This blatant weaponization of federal law enforcement is yet another piece of proof that Todd Blanche is unfit for a permanent appointment. His DOJ is relying on aggressive intimidation tactics and legally questionable subpoenas targeting local public servants only because their sweeping lawsuits are failing to hold up in court.
Any representative or senator who stands by silently while the federal government bullies our local communities is choosing partisan compliance over the Constitution. I urge you to use Congress's powers of oversight and appropriations to defund this executive abuse of power immediately, and I demand that the Senate reject the nomination of Todd Blanche.
