Protect the right to read!

To: Lt. Gov. Patrick, Gov. Abbott, Sen. Schwertner, Rep. Harris Davila

From: A constituent in Leander, TX

April 21

I am your constituent. I am calling to voice opposition to HB 1375 that will be heard by the Representative during the Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence Committee hearing on Wednesday. I've been watching the rise of book challenges and book bans in our Texas public schools and public libraries for the past several years, and have been assured that I don't need to worry, because I can still buy the books from the bookstore. HB 1375 appears to be trying to scare booksellers out of carrying and selling the kinds of books that have been targeted by book banners in schools and public libraries. Please don't interfere with my family's ability to shop for books that are becoming harder to find in our libraries and schools, by opening up our local bookstores to frivolous lawsuits. Please don't vote HB 1375 out of committee. Please protect all Texans right to read.
