Ever since the Supreme Court shattered campaign finance law with its decision in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission in 2010, Americans have been told there are only two ways to stop corporate and “dark” money in politics: Amend the U.S. Constitution or wait for the court to undo what it has done. But it isn’t true. There is another way and it is in your hands. In fact, we have the right and the authority to define and limit corporate powers in our state. Corporations are pure creatures of law; they do not exist without law and have zero powers until a government grants them some. Montana, is in the process of putting forth a ballot initiative that would roll back Citizens United in their state. Below is a link to their initiative and their proposed legislation. I want you to modify their proposed bill and make it law in our state. We won’t be a government by or for the people until we get the money out. Thank you.
