Ted Cruz: You Fight for Texas at Donor Dinners. Do It on the Senate Floor

To: Sen. Cruz

From: A verified voter in Austin, TX

April 13

In May 2022, Senator Cruz promoted stickers on gas pumps blaming Biden for high prices. Gas was $3.79 a gallon. Today, it’s $4.11 because Trump bombed Iran on February 28 and Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz. Twenty percent of global oil supply vanished overnight. The IEA called it “the greatest global energy security challenge in history.” Texas gas rose from $2.55 to $3.21 in just one month. Diesel reached $5.62. Cruz called tariffs “a tax on consumers” on Fox Business in April 2025. He privately warned Trump that they’d cause a “bloodbath” in 2026. He told donors Trump responded by saying “f**k you, Ted.” Then he voted against the bill to block tariffs on Canada. He told Texans he opposed the policy. He told Trump’s donors it was dangerous. He did nothing on the Senate floor. Texas families are paying a dollar more per gallon at the pump. Grocery prices continue to rise. Trump started a war without congressional approval that has cost over $200 billion and resulted in American service members’ deaths. Cruz warned about all of this. He was right. Still, he did nothing. Vote to restore congressional authority over tariffs. Support the Trade Review Act. Demand a vote to authorize military action in Iran, as the Constitution requires. You warned Trump this would happen. You were right. Now, take action.
