Pass Senate DHS Funding Bill for TSA and FEMA
To: Rep. Smucker
From: A verified voter in Lititz, PA
March 29
I need you to immediately pass the Senate-approved funding bill for TSA, FEMA, and all other DHS agencies except ICE and Border Patrol. The House vote is scheduled for Friday before the April recess. These agencies have been shut down since February 14th over disputes that have nothing to do with their operations.
TSA agents have missed paychecks and started quitting. Airport security lines now stretch for hours. FEMA remains unfunded during disaster season. This is unacceptable. ICE and Border Patrol already have access to a $170 billion slush fund from last year's H.R. 1, so there's no reason to hold other agencies hostage while those negotiations continue.
I also need you to block any attempt by the administration to deploy ICE agents to airports for security purposes. These agents have no training in airport security screening. Putting them in TSA's role will create chaos and compromise safety, not solve the staffing crisis.
Pass the Senate bill this Friday and end this shutdown for agencies that should never have been caught in this fight.
