Congress This is what Republican budget plans would mean for our community. $7 Trillion In giveaways to billionaires and big corporations. $314,266 Average annual tax cut for the richest 0.1 percent. Meanwhile, middle-class families would be left holding the bag. To pay for their giveaways to big corporations and the ultra-rich, Republicans will take away health care, increase the cost of essentials like food and housing, and decimate services working families count on. Under the Republican budget plan, the 33,000 people who receive coverage under the Affordable Care Act in LA-06 would see their average premium go up by $800 per year — a 63% increase. Many families would face even steeper consequences. A 60-year-old couple with a household income of $85,000 in LA-06 would see their health insurance costs increase by $20,404 per year — a 282% increase. In LA-06, the 206,056 people on Medicaid (also known in Louisiana as Bayou Health, Healthy Louisiana) are at risk of losing their health care under Republican budget plans. This includes 106,878 children under the age of 19 and 30,000 seniors over 65 in LA-06. Extreme Republican budget plans threaten the 80,000 people in LA-06 who count on SNAP to put food on the table. And across Louisiana, the Republican budget threatens 600,242 children who rely on free school lunches. If Republicans are successful, their extreme budget will make it even harder for these children to get the meals they need to grow and learn. The Republican budget would jeopardize the futures of 27,892 students in LA-06 who use Pell grants to help afford their education. We the people, that is what you are in Washington to do, represent us, We the people. Not the Rich, Not Trump, Not the Republican Party, but We the People!
