Protect Americans from asbestos exposure

To: Rep. Bergman

From: A verified voter in Marquette, MI

June 27, 2025

I urge you to support the EPA’s 2024 rule banning chrysotile asbestos and to oppose any effort to weaken or delay this essential protection. Asbestos is a lethal substance. Even minimal exposure can lead to deadly diseases like mesothelioma and lung cancer. Industry arguments that chrysotile can be used safely ignore decades of evidence and the real-world harm already done to workers and families across the country. The EPA’s rule is grounded in scientific consensus, crafted with public input, and includes realistic timelines for compliance. It prevents suffering while giving industry time to adjust. Rolling it back would not be a win for freedom or innovation. It would be a win for companies profiting from risk at the expense of human lives. Please put the health of your constituents first and defend the asbestos ban.
