An Open Letter

To: Sen. Marshall, Rep. Davids, Sen. Moran

From: A verified voter in Olathe, KS

February 14

I’m writing to demand that you push for the following to be included in the long-term DHS appropriations bill to rein in ICE. They are: 1 No additional funding for ICE — they already have $75 billion for the next four years, they don’t need another $10 billion 2 An independent inspector inside everyICE detention center to ensure humane conditions and no abuse of detainees 3 A mandate that ICE agents obtain a judicial warrant, not an administrative one, to enter a home or arrest someone 4 A ban on ICE agents entering schools, hospitals, medical clinics, doctors’ offices, and places of worship 5 A ban on ICE agents detaining and deporting children and minors 6 A ban on ICE agents detaining and deporting U.S. citizens 7 A ban on ICE agents wearing face masks to conceal their identity 8 A restriction on DHS transferring funds within the agency, so they can’t pull from FEMA or the Coast Guard or Border Patrol to fund ICE 9 A removal of Border Patrol officers from cities; they should stay at the border 10 An end to ICE’s arrest quotas 11 A requirement that ICE agents wear body cameras 12 A ban on ICE or DHS surveilling us and collecting our data more than allowed without a judicial warrant (no face recognition of protestors, who are then punished with removed global entry or canceled Known Traveler Numbers) 13 A ban on ICE agents conducting roving patrols 14 A mandatory code of conduct for ICE agents My fellow constituents and I will be paying close attention to what’s included and to how you vote. We’ll remember come election time, including the primaries.
