Nevada needs common-sense Data Center regulations now!

To: Sen. Dondero Loop, Assembly Member Kasama, Gov. Lombardo

From: A constituent in Las Vegas, NV

December 9

There needs to be regulations established immediately for data centers in Las Vegas, and throughout the state of Nevada. I read in the news that the largely unregulated rise of data centers to fuel AI is invading cities and threatening economic, environmental, climate, and water security. I've also read articles and watched news reports of how data centers near residential neighborhoods negatively impact the health of the residents. I was shocked to read that in Las Vegas, there are already 35 data centers established. In a city [and state] known for water supply insecurity, I find this to be outrageous and irresponsible. Citizens are consistently reminded to conserve (and warned of potential fines) yet data centers that are known energy and water hogs are being allowed. Make it make sense. Before further invasion of data centers in the city and in the state, there needs to be common-sense regulations established immediately. Thank you.
