Even stalwart Trump allies like former Attorney General William Barr considered appointing Patel to a senior FBI position to be an affront to reality given his lack of relevant experience. With the FBI director wielding immense power and public trust in the bureau paramount, elevating a brazenly partisan operative like Patel seems like an unconscionable politicization of federal law enforcement. I urge you to take the unprecedented objections from within Trump's inner circle seriously and reject this nomination to uphold the independence and integrity of the FBI.
