The Administration proposes taking a hatchet to America’s cultural vitality. They propose to eliminate the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and other federal supports for America’s creative, artistic, and intellectual wellsprings. No. Simply, no. Donald Trump is a cultural zero. His idea of art is Ronald McDonald. Just because he can’t tolerate seeing people enjoy things he doesn’t understand is no reason to dismantle our nation’s painters, actors, essayists, and other creative intellectuals. Retain - heck! Expand! - funding for the arts and humanities.
