Restrict statewide PD cooperation with ICE
To: Gov. Healey
From: A verified voter in Lowell, MA
January 18
The new governor of Virginia has ended the state’s police departments’ cooperation with ICE. Will you do the same in Massachusetts?
The Boston police department has rules around how they may engage with ICE and per the Globe, they’re ignoring ICE requests for support — as they should.
But many other PDs in our state do not have this level of restriction and are ready and willing to support ICE by providing traffic control support and more upon request.
Please restrict this cooperation. If the new governor of Virginia can do it in a matter of hours, so can you.
