Texas just added five new districts through aggressive redistricting. California has taken decisive steps to protect its representation. Meanwhile, New York has been standing still.
This is not a moment for complacency. Every congressional seat matters — not just for political advantage, but for ensuring our state’s voters have the full representation they are entitled to. If we fail to act, we allow other states to shape the balance of power in Washington at our expense.
We must move swiftly to:
1. Complete a redistricting process that protects democratic New Yorkers’ representation and influence in Congress.
2. Use every legal and legislative tool available to ensure district maps reflect our state’s population, diversity, and voice.
3. Counterbalance aggressive moves in other states that will otherwise diminish our national influence.
The clock is ticking. Every month of inaction leaves New York weaker on the national stage. I urge you to prioritize this immediately and publicly commit to protecting and expanding our representation.
New York cannot afford to be outmaneuvered. Our voters deserve better.
