Repeal unfair Social Security provisions impacting public servants

I support the Social Security Fairness Act of 2023 because I paid into the Social Security system before transitioning into a career as a teacher. Despite contributing to Social Security for years, I am currently subject to reductions in my earned benefits due to the Government Pension Offset and Windfall Elimination Provisions. These provisions unfairly penalize public sector workers like teachers, police officers, and firefighters who served their communities after previously paying into Social Security through other employment. Repealing these outdated and discriminatory policies would ensure I and others receive the full Social Security benefits we earned and paid for over many years. This legislation upholds principles of fairness and equity for all workers regardless of their profession.
