I’m appalled by the ongoing violence in the Middle East. I am particularly appalled by the fact that it’s our tax dollars and our weaponry being supplied to the government of Netanyahu that is killing these thousands of civilians. We can support the Israeli people but to support Netanyahu and his extreme right wing government is unconscionable. One of his ministers is a criminal responsible for inciting killings of Palestinians in the West Bank and inciting the killing of former Prime Minister Rabin in order to kill the peace process and the two state solution. We have influence at least as far as withholding our money and weapons from Israel until they stop the killing of civilians and allow for humanitarian assistance. They have bombed schools, hospitals, aid convoys and designated refugee camps. We must say no! All this killing won’t end the violence and make Israel safe. It will breed generations of angry people who will want to avenge the deaths of their loved ones in turn. If Netanyahu and his cronies had provided security for the Palestinians in the West Bank rather than allowing terrorist settlers to act with impunity there would have been a better chance for peace. The outrage of October 7 never should have happened. The saturation bombing of Gaza is not the answer. I don’t want to be complicit. I’m fine with money for the “iron dome” protection of Israel but I am not fine with 200lb. bombs dropped on schools. You could stop this.
